Project Overview: Advanced Solar Solutions

A Class Energy Solutions were commissioned to install a major solar system with the objective of increasing the energy efficiency of the Seaford Central Shopping Centre, located at 108 Commercial Rd, Seaford 5169. We’re proud to have played a role in this transformation, deploying a state-of-the-art 464.745 kW solar system tailored to the specific needs of this large commercial property to help achieve maximum energy savings.

Our system consisted of the following:

● 4 x SolarEdge SE100K Inverters with Synergy Units: Designed to be at the heart of large commercial installations, these high-capacity inverters offer achievements in power conversion and optimisation.

● 1,085 x SolarEdge P1100 Optimisers: Each solar panel is optimised to perform at its peak capacity through the use of a module-level power electronics (MLPE) system with DC/DC optimisers. This feature mitigates the negative effects of partial shading, soiling and many other issues that impact and reduce output from individual panels.

● 879 x Trina 415W Solar Panels and 196 x Trina 510W Solar Panels: Trina’s high-efficiency panels are a benchmark in the industry, known for their durability and superior energy conversion rates.

Challenges and Solutions: Ensuring Seamless Integration

Such a huge solar system comes with a few challenges to install, one of which was traffic control so that our ground-mount car park structure for the shopping centre wouldn’t distract patrons during installation. We prioritised safety, and careful planning ensured that interference was kept to a minimum.

Also, it had to be compliant. The units follow the South Australian Power Network (SAPN) specifications, and a compliance test was performed post-install to verify full compliance with D.N.O regulations. The effort to complete the project was mammoth: 23 people worked on the site, 4 of them crew of 5 members each, with 3 dedicated project managers and coordinators.

Energy and Cost Savings: Profound Impact

This installation had immediate and significant bottom-line benefits. Before having it installed solar power, the client was paying an average of $28,000 every month on electricity. Now, that cost has been cut by more than half. This significant reduction is a result of not only lowered grid power usage but also reduced demand costs, translating into significantly lower power bills. All together this means that the Seaford Central Shopping Centre saves nearly $14,000 a month
by using solar energy.

Client Feedback and Expanding Horizons

This new commercial solar system installation has produced results that did not go unnoticed by the client either. They reported experiencing the lowest power bills they have ever had and were so impressed with the results that they decided to roll out similar solar systems across their other shopping centres – Victor Central Shopping Centre, Mount Barker Central Shopping Centre and Greenacres Central Shopping Centre.

Feedback about a month later reported even more impressive numbers – monthly energy bill savings of around $110,000 for all the shopping centres! This feedback is a testimony to the efficacy and reliability of the solutions we provide.
